As part of our long-standing support for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls (PVAWG) initiative, this year we partnered with the Safer Business Network to introduce the concept of creating Safe Havens within our clients' properties.
Safe Havens are designated areas within existing buildings that vulnerable persons can can access if they feel unsafe, or in need of help in the local area.
Each Safe Haven offers facilities such as a place to charge a phone, access water and restroom facilities, and is staffed by individuals who can contact emergency services or provide directions to appropriate services, such as a local cab company.
Setting up a Safe Haven requires a number of measures to be implemented to be eligible for the scheme. These include amongst other elements; DBS or SIA licenced staff, basic equipment, CCTV / bodycams and a set of procedures.
Safe Havens can be identified by a sticker displayed at the venue and is supported by the City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police control rooms.
Since introducing the concept to our clients in January, we now have nine Safe Havens fully operational across London, with more planned.
