Raising Awareness of Prostate Cancer

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
That statistic alone highlights why raising awareness is so important. This month, our team at Unitrust are wearing blue ribbons to spark conversations and encourage greater awareness around men’s health.
Prostate cancer often develops without obvious early symptoms, which is why understanding the risks and recognising potential warning signs can make a real difference.
Symptoms to be aware of include:
Trouble urinating
Needing to urinate more frequently, especially at night
Blood in urine
Pain in the back, hips or pelvis
If you notice any of these signs, it’s important to speak with your doctor.
Early detection plays a vital role. A simple PSA blood test can help identify potential issues, and regular check-ups are particularly important for those at higher risk. If you’re unsure, it’s always worth having a conversation with your GP about screening options.
By wearing blue ribbons and sharing this message, we hope to encourage more open conversations, reduce stigma, and ultimately help more people seek advice sooner.
